Sitabani is not part of Corbett tiger reserve, this used to be part of forest, in 2015 Indian government made it accumulate in reserve ares and now this is as buffer zone of Corbett Tiger Reserve. This zone is as beautiful as other areas of Corbett . with jungle it is famous for the temple which is located at Sitabani and this is dedicated to lord Shiva, according to the epics it was made by Goddess Sita, and this area named Sitabani on Mata Seeta, according to the Ramayana Seeta spent here exile in this place. Once in a year on Maha Shivbratri a big mela takes place in the temple and people who believe in Hinduism come here. Being a buffer zone of Corbett National Park it is famous for spotting the birds. Almost all the birds are present in this zone which you will get in Corbett. The Sitabani buffer zone remains open for tourists and in this area 60 jeep safaris are allowed at one time. As other zones of Corbett need pass booking in advance, but if you come and you need a pass at the time so you will get at teda gate. Sitabani forest department offers jeep safari permit for this area. Sitabani has the longest route which covers approx 50 km, apart from this you may go for fishing as well If you make a round of this zone so surely it is going to be one of the best tours which offer you a glimpse of dense forest and natural beauty.
Tourists who visit Sitabani are mainly birdwatchers; they have writh to watch new birds which demands completed by Sitabani Zone round the year. In this tourist can get red booked birds like vultures and other. Seetabani is well known for its wildlife and plants which covers almost all the diversity of Corbett tiger reserve. In Sitabani you will get more than 600 species of plants which include Shrubs, grass, wood and plants. Sal, Sagon, Sheesam, Dhal, Pipal, Haldu, mango are the species which remains green round the year.The place is a paradise for bird watchers and there is also an ashram where tourists can take rest for a while.
Though Sitabani zone can be visited throughout the year but the best time to visit throughout the year. Procedure to book a safari for the Sitabani area – Advance booking is suggested for taking safari rides in the Sitabani area. Corbett Tiger Reserve Authority does not offer any kind of permit for the entry into this zone. Instead, Sitabani Forest Department gives the permission for jeep safari in this region. The best part about Sitabani forest area is you don’t need to get a permit from Corbett Tiger Reserve. Only you need to book a jeep in advance, which is mandatory for planning a safari tour in the Sitabani area. On behalf of the booked jeep we obtained an entry permit on the spot at the safari entry gate. During monsoon season almost all prime safari zones (except Dhela & Jhirna) are closed but Sitabani Zone remains open round the year.
Sitabani Forest Rest House is one of the historical forest rest houses which was built in the year of 1940. Sitabani FRH is located 27 kilometres from Ramnagar city on the Powalgarh Road at an elevation of 515 m perched on a hilltop. You can also take the forest road from Bhandarpani to Sitabani. There is a watchtower in the FRH compound, ideal for bird watchers. The ancient Sitabani Temple, a national monument under the Archeological Survey of India, is close to the FRH which also has a sulfur spring. There are several caves in the forest around the FRH.
